In response to the third wave of COVID-19 and following the success of the first vaccination campaign, the OPTS Medical Subcommittee led by Dr. Effiem Abbah again engaged the Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) for a second round of vaccination of the oil and gas workforce.
Following OPTS’ request, NPHCDA approved the second vaccination campaign of industry workers (full-time staff and their spouses, pensioners and their spouses, and contractors).
The second campaign started on September 7 and ended on September 18, 2021. Industry workers were given the option to choose from the Astrazeneca or Moderna vaccines. ExxonMobil, Chevron, TotalEnergies and Shell Production Development Company (SPDC) provided venues, logistics and administrative support towards the administration of the vaccines. The feedback from the member companies was positive with employees expressing their gratitude for the vaccination drive.
